Bounce Magic has gone so far above and beyond to help us find Bunny that it melts my heart. They’ve posted about it on their facebook wall, the one worker there (Steve) stayed two hours after they closed on Wednesday night looking for Bunny, even after Eric was there for an hour and a half doing the same thing earlier in the day (with Steve’s help) and now they’re offering a free monthly pass as a reward!
Tomorrow they’re going to call all 45 people who came there on Wednesday to ask if they’ve seen Bunny or if someone accidentally “adopted” her. (You have to sign in and put your phone number down just in case when you get in.)
I really can’t believe there are still companies out there willing to go the extra mile like this. Evie loves her Bunny with her whole heart and I think Steve understood that. It helped that he told Eric about his own daughter and her well loved Teddy Bear, I think.
I hope someone has Bunny and they bring her back. I would love to see the joy on Evie’s face when she gets to see her again.
(Click through to check out their facebook page. This is the second post they published about Bunny and I -under Eric’s name- just put up two pictures so they know what to look for.)

I can’t even…

Today my grandma was rushed to another hospital because she had to have emergency surgery on her legs to clear the blood clots that had formed. They ignored it for so long, despite my grandma, my mom and my aunt telling them there was something wrong with her legs that if they’d waited another couple of hours, she would have lost her legs.

The negligence going on at that hospital is beyond comprehension. It’s like they just wait for old people to die there.

Not once has anyone come in to check out her eyes and how she can’t see. No one has been feeding her, in spite of all the complaining everyone has been doing.

There’s more but I’m so livid, I can’t keep it all straight.

How could they let her legs get to that point?! When the doctor came in, he was pissed. Usually he said he waits 24 hours to do a surgery like that because you have to fast before it but he risked it because it was such an emergency. He couldn’t clear out the tips of her toes, so she might lose them but she’ll be able to walk even if she does lose them. He’s hoping that clearing out everything will cause those blood clots in her toes to work themselves out.

I’m just furious. How can a hospital like this stay open?! She was in the goddamnn intensive care unit! How to they treat the people on the normal floors?!

The terrible care my grandma has been getting

in the hospital is ridiculous. Luckily, my mom has been on vacation for the past week but she’s afraid to go back to work because she’s sure my grandma is going to starve there. I swear no one there has even looked at her chart because she cannot feed herself and they just drop off the food, they didn’t respond to the emergency call button at all when my mom pressed it today, they leave her on a bedpan for hours, when the nurses do come in to change the sheets or pad she’s on, they tell her to look at the door or the wall and get aggravated when she doesn’t but she can’t fucking see! I mean, she can but her brain is garbling everything so she thinks she can see things but she can’t process it.

St. Joeseph’s hospital on Harlem Road in Cheektowaga. Such a terrible hospital.

I just finished telling Eric about all of this and he was so mad he actually called down there to complain but he had to leave a message. My aunt and mom have been recording everything in a notebook, which I’m glad about but they shouldn’t have to!

I don’t mean to bring everyone down with this post but I’m so frustrated. She was put in intensive care right in front of the nurses station so someone would always be able to see her and it’s like she doesn’t exist. On top of that, it’s not like it’s a busy hospital. I bet she’s one of maybe five people on the floor.

Scrawled note details purported murder

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Cheektowaga viewer alerted News 4 to a reported murder confession posted inside the electrical box of his bedroom, and a body may be hidden underneath.

When Joe Miller’s power went out on Monday, he went to investigate.
“I thought maybe a breaker had blown. And I went into my bedroom, into the breaker panel, and opened it up, and was looking at the breakers. Nothing out of the ordinary,” said Miller.
That is, until Miller glanced over at a handwritten note inside the breaker box’s door. “I write this as my only confession,” it said. “I have committed the ultimate crime against humanity, the taking of another’s life.”

This is just freaky. They never said where the house was, but for all I know, it’s next door.

I love Sylvia’s sincerity here. She’s making more of a statement than a question, really, so why not just put a period on the end? She may as well have written, “Girl u crazy.”
I also enjoy the way Leslie’s comment follows up Julie’s, as if to showcase the extreme differences between the types of moms who watch fantasy movies with their kids and the types of moms who “sacrifice” Harry Potter movies for their kids. I understand that Leslie and Julie’s kids may be completely different ages, but why use the words “stopped watching”? It sounds so finite. Like saying, “I used use to love Harry Potter. I organized Harry Potter fan meet-ups, dressed in full wizard garb on the eves of premieres, and generally celebrated the franchise’s greatness on a daily basis. But then I had kids, so I had to hang up my wand.”
But why did Julie hang up her wand? Now I want to know. Was it for some specific purpose? I went to the WGRZ Buffalo Facebook and came up empty-handed. Can’t somebody give me answers?!

Getting Married

Evie just asked me if she could get married (as she was playing with her Plex from Yo Gabba Gabba), and I told her she can marry anyone she wants when she grows up and the fact that she now can marry anyone, woman or man, struck me in the most fantastic way and brought tears to my eyes.

My little girl is allowed to love who ever she wants when she grows up now, and not just love them, but marry them too. The fact that she’s going to grow up only knowing that freedom is amazing.

I’m so glad we live in a blue state.

We went to that new park again today

And I forgot my camera again! I did remember to charge the battery though. A lot of good it did me at home. It was even better this time because there were less people there so Evie didn’t have to wriggle past all the kids to get where she wanted to go. It rained most of the day, misted really, and it must have kept everyone inside. We got to walk down the trails this time and they lead to an amazing gazebo overlooking Buffalo Creek (I found out the name) and a place where they hold concerts. The stage is made of stone, but the acoustics are incredible there! Evie had a good time with her rendition of “I’m a Little Tea Pot”.

I also found out what the park is actually called! It’s the Charles E. Burchfield Nature & Art Center and they have an art gallery, they hold art classes and there’s a bunch of concerts scheduled for the summer. It’s situated where Charles E. Burchfield lived when he moved to Buffalo (West Seneca actually) in 1925. He’s a pretty famous watercolor painter I guess. I’m kind of embarassed to say I never heard of him, but watercolor was never one of my favorite mediums. I can’t believe we just found out about this great place!

Tumblr needs a reply feature.

Hector: I do have a timer but I broke my tripod a while ago and since it’s an SLR it’s hard to balance on things and get a good angle. Plus, I have no idea how to pose myself and look good. I’m awesome at looking awkward as hell 90% of the time, not just in pictures but in life. It really doesn’t make sense though. I know how to pose people and make them look good but it just doesn’t translate. I need someone with a good eye to take pictures of me.

Matt: I’ve never been to Arizona but I lived in New Mexico for a while and it was fantastic for photography. The lighting was always good! It seemed like it was always the golden hour there. I only get an hour of that light up here, even in the summer. The only problem I had down there was not having much to take pictures of because everyone’s houses were walled off. It sucked taking walks in Albuquerque because there wasn’t even anyone to nod at on their porches and forget seeing people walk down the street! They acted like they were living on the surface of hell and anything not air conditioned was blasphemy. We went down there to escape the cold and I ended up being colder there than I ever was in New York. Plus, while I was down there I worked as a photographer so I didn’t really feel like pulling the camera out after I clocked out for the day.

I took a lot of senior portraits while I worked there and I don’t know if it’s a huge issue where you live but in NM I couldn’t believe how many of the girls I photographed were knocked up already. It was crazy! Sometimes I wouldn’t realize and I’d ask them what their plans were after high school and they’d pull out some “I just want to support my baby. I’m going to school to be a phlebotomist!” shit and I just wanted to pick them up and shake some sense into them. Phlebotomy?! Really? You could make more money working at the crazy Walmarts down there that actually have a liquor aisle.

bringtheruckuss: i have an art degree...

bringtheruckuss:

which means i wasn’t thinking about money when i started school, i was thinking about doing what was fun and easy and avoiding math classes at all costs. but that leaves me with an art degree. art. not graphic design or anything specific. just art. plain old art. not that i’m complaining. i’m…

Buffalo, NY has a huge art scene (I went for art too), with a lot of exhibition possibilities and the cost of living is one of the lowest in the country. As long as you don’t live in the actual city of Buffalo, you probably won’t get shot. No promises though.

Also, you’ll still have to deal with the snow and the temperature. It feels like it’s negative 4 degrees outside right now. Paying the gas bill will suck but if you’re poor, HEAP will probably pay it for you.

Check out the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, CEPA, Big Orbit and the art galleries at the University at Buffalo, among others. UB had world renowned artists teaching their classes too.

Sept 1st: War will break out in Western NY

I dont know how much people pay attention to the govenor of NY, but he’s an asshole. Patterson, who only became govener because of that sex scandle, should have been thrown out a long time ago. He’s made it abundantly clear that he couldn’t care less about the average person, working for a living. Now he wants to collect cigarette taxes from the reservations out here?! Yeah right. He’s even aknowledged there could be violence and death.

Albany can’t stay within a budget so they go after the little guys. We already pay $10 per pack of cigarettes if we don’t go to the reservation. Ten fucking dollars for one pack! I’m so sick of this state.
