There are ninjas among us.

Nothing in this world makes her happier than bubbles do. We must have “played bubbles” for two full hours yesterday. Maybe more. She had so much fun! Then we took a walk to my mom’s house and she helped her clean the pool, which is going to be filled today. Yesterday was a great day.
Oh, and the mess on her arm is a bunch of temporary tattoos. The damn things just won’t come off! I guess she got to “look like Mommy” longer than she expected!
Especially if it’s intended for his daughter.
Yesterday, when he was on break at school, he took a walk to a small local bakery and bought a ton of cookies. After he got back, he offered everyone in the class some, depleting his huge stash to just four cookies which he planned on bringing home to Evie. Once everyone that wanted a cookie got one, he put the closed bag on his desk and walked away for a while. (I don’t know where he went. Bathroom maybe?)
When he came back, he saw the bag was open and two of them were missing, which pissed him off considering he offered them to everyone. He looked around and he saw a notoriously jerky guy with his mouth stuffed full with both cookies, snickering at his confusion.
I guess the combination of this guy stealing the cookies, being a general asshole (he’s already pulled the fire alarm and caused two trucks to go down for the day), and the cookies being meant for Evie sent Eric over the edge. Without even thinking about it, Eric walked over to this guy and slapped him across the face, knocking the cookies out of his mouth! He then warned him never to steal from him again and he had a chance to have a cookie when he offered.
I know Eric shouldn’t have done that but when he told me this story, I just about died from laughter. Can you imagine someone getting the cookies slapped out of their face and the mess that had to have caused, with the chewed up bits and crumbs going everywhere? Plus, a man getting slapped by another man seems more degrading than getting punched. Maybe I just feel that way but it seems like the guy probably went home and cried after being humiliated like that.
Once Eric cooled down, he told the guy he was sorry and that he shouldn’t have done that and I guess the guy accepted his apology.
I’m still laughing though.

Since the summer is on it’s way, expect frequent pictures of Evie. She just looks so nice in the sunlight that I can’t help myself.
Yesterday was great. We took a walk to the park and on the way we ran into my mom and went with her to visit my grandpa for a couple minutes. He gave me a mother’s day card that made me tear up and then we finished the walk. Evie, Eric and I played at the park for a couple hours and made our way back, stopping at my mom’s house so Evie could ride her bike for a bit and blow bubbles. Then, on the way home we got our first taste of ice cream truck goodness.
It was the perfect beginning of summer day.

See-saw/teeter-totter. Happy Evie.
Love and unfolded laundry.
Eric’s mom sent this to me. Her, Eric, Evie and Eric’s siser Heidi all went out to dinner. I stayed home so I could “have the night off” as Eric put it. I should be cleaning or doing something productive but I can’t stop watching the kitten cam The Daily What posted.
Evie’s finished masterpiece. Honestly, she did a good job of painting just on the nail. She just couldn’t grasp that the entire brush was covered in nail polish and not just the tip. She also didn’t understand that you have to wipe some of the polish off on the edge of the bottle, so I’m pretty sure the nail polish on my fingers is an eighth of an inch thick.
She had fun and that’s all that matters. :D
She has this frisbee thing that is just a circle without a middle, kind of like a donut shape, and she put it on a ball and came over to tell me she made Saturn.
I have no idea where she learned that, but what 4 year old knows what Saturn looks like? And what 4 year old understands that was don’t live on Saturn, but Earth instead and that we can’t go to Saturn because it’s so far away? I can maybe see a kid that’s about to turn 5 knowing that but she’s barely out of 3.
I think she might have learned this from Futurama. I love that she takes the information out of shows like that. I love that she might have turned Futurama into an educational program.
Maybe this is common knowledge for a kid her age. I really don’t know. I really don’t have anyone to compare her to. It just seems amazing to me.
Evie painting Daddy’s nails.
More tiny Evie by request! I could seriously look at these pictures all day.
I don’t like baby fever though! No more babies for me! I just wish I could go back in time.
spanknastyfresh has me all baby crazy. I’ve been looking at knitted baby clothes patterns because I like to pretend I’ll finish the shawl I’m working on in time to make her something cute for her daughter and my ovaries just want to explode. Then, looking at all these babies reminded me of all the cell phone videos I have of Evie when she was tiny, so I’ve been watching them and omg. I forgot she always wanted kisses. I forgot about how she’d tap her finger on things to test them out before she picked them up. I forgot about watching her little butt as she crawled away.
Time goes by way too fast. It feels like she was a baby just yesterday. Man, she was cute.
Today was nice. White Eric was at school, Evie and I busted out a “stepping stone” craft set thing she got for her birthday. I really thought it was going to be a disaster because we had to mix up plaster but it wasn’t that bad. The worst part was her asking if we could decorate it yet over and over while it was drying. She did a really nice job, I think. She paints better than she draws, which kind of scares me and makes me happy at the same time. I’d love for us to share that but I don’t want her to make the same mistake and switch from a pharmacy degree to an art one. (I was young and dumb. What do you want from me?! lol)
When Eric got home, Evie asked if she could paint his nails, so he let her. She did a nice job with that too. She did get it in every crack and crevice of his finger tips though, so he’s still slightly green even after taking it off.
After that, we took a walk down the street to see my grandpa and to say thank you for the birthday gifts. My mom happened to be there too, so that was cool. While we were there, my mom and I went through some of my grandma’s old jewelry and I took a bunch of it home. None of it is worth anything in the slightest but it’s all so… her. Her jewelry always matched what she was wearing so there’s something in every color. Looking at it on my table is making me miss her so much. I can remember her wearing a lot of it and it makes me sad that I won’t see her wear it again. I’m glad I have it to remember her by though.
All in all, it was a really nice day. I love when the weather allows us to go outside. I even got a couple of dandelions from Evie out of the deal. :)
The taxes didn’t go through today but I’m hoping they go through tomorrow because of whatever weird holiday it is today. We did end up going out today though. We stopped at Michael’s first and they were having a great sale on yarn so I bought three skeins of my favorite yarn ever, Naturally Caron Spa, which usually sells for $6 each but I got for $3.50. They only had three skeins left in the entire store, so I didn’t get the gray color I wanted but I did end up with this pretty green, a yellow and a dusty pink.
Then I walked around the corner and saw that they were selling Lion Brand Thick & Quick for $4 when they’re normally $8, so I picked up three of those too. I got Grass Green and hopefully I’m going to be able to make a poof to put your feet up on with them. If I run out of yarn, I’ll have to figure something else out not only because I won’t pay $8 per skein but also because I took the last of the color lot there and I won’t be able to match it again.
So all in all, I got $40 worth of yarn for $22.50 today and that makes me very happy. I can’t believe someone (or multiple someones) bought up almost all of the Spa yarn though. I must not be the only person who loves it!
After that, we went to the mall and got a few things at Old Navy. I ended up with a dress that was on clearance for $10 and two tank tops for $3.50 each. Not too bad! We got Evie a new hoodie, a Hello Kitty long sleeve shirt (on clearance) and two stuffed Hello Kitties for her birthday. One is holding a cupcake and it’s super cute.
Then, of course, we got Starbucks.
It was a nice little evening. Evie had a good time but eventually she started asking to go home so she could go to bed. She’d been up since 5am when she had the nightmare, so it was understandable. She fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
On an unrelated note, I can’t believe four years ago I was in the hospital, blacking out from the pain of labor to have Evie. I think I finally caved and got my epidural right around now. I really should have let them do it earlier but I was afraid of how much it would hurt to have a tube stuck in my spine. LOL. Like it could have been worse than the labor or something. Then at 1:17am Evie was born, after an emergency c-section.
That’s enough for now. I’m sure I’ll post a mushy story about Evie being born tomorrow.

The cover-up attempt.
